Abstract art often evokes descriptions centered around “feelings,” “emotions,” and the “soul.” These words offer valuable insight into the profound interaction between the artwork, the viewer, and the artist.
The intersection of art and mysticism is age-old. Both delve into the unknown, seeking to translate intangible concepts into tangible forms.
The subjective nature of non-representational art can make it challenging to interpret. A viewer might feel deeply moved without fully understanding why. This experience can be attributed to a subconscious awakening, where the soul is stirred into heightened awareness. The physical body may struggle to articulate these spiritual concepts through purely physical terms.
As an artist with an understanding of spiritual dimensions, I offer my perspective on the experience of encountering mystical abstract paintings.
Consider the process from these angles:
The Spirit: A primary intention of the spirit is to integrate spiritual understanding into the physical world. This can manifest as an opportunity for a receptive individual, who may be the direct recipient or a messenger. The message can be conveyed through various mediums, including abstract art that serves as a provocative allegory.
The Messenger (Artist): Specifically, an artist attuned to their inner, enigmatic visions. Inspired, the artist translates these visions into a unique style. Often, the artist may be unaware of the precise meaning behind their creation, driven by an intense urge to use certain colors or techniques.
The Art: A personalized expression of inner visuals, rendered on canvas or another medium. The artist allows the vision to materialize, resulting in surreal allegories, enigmatic narratives, or simple abstract arrangements of shapes and colors. Each element holds a potential key, offering the viewer entry into a captivating and imaginative realm.
The Viewer: A receptive observer might initially feel an inexplicable connection to the art, drawn in emotionally. As thoughts intertwine, gradual realizations emerge, leading to a personal, creative understanding that may extend to others.
The Gift: The previously veiled vision reveals its truth to the receptive viewer. This can take many forms: a simple affirmation, a personal revelation, spiritual or mental encouragement, or renewed vigor for a weary soul. It can instill contentment amidst challenges, with an influence that lasts for days, weeks, or even years.
Therefore, whether you are creating art or visiting a gallery, embrace openness and shed inhibitions. Open your eyes, the windows to the soul, and prepare to see—to create or to receive.
