Ford Honored by Boy Scouts as Motorsports Company of the Year

The Boy Scouts of America’s Cascade Pacific Council honored Ford Motor Company as Motorsports Company of the Year on June 15th at their 17th annual Motorsports Breakfast in Portland, Oregon. This breakfast is held in conjunction with the Grand Prix of Portland, an annual stop on the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford.

Ron Bennett, a member of the Motorsports Breakfast Steering Committee, presented the award. In his address, Bennett highlighted the common ground between Ford and the Boy Scouts, citing the Pinewood Derby as a prime example. He noted how both organizations encourage imagination and problem-solving in the pursuit of building the perfect race car, from design and weight placement to paint schemes. He emphasized the parallels between the Scouts’ preparations and the rigorous testing and development processes employed by Ford’s engineers.

Jamie Allison, manager for the Ford Racing Performance Group, expressed the company’s appreciation for the recognition. He accepted the award on behalf of Dan Davis, Director of Ford Racing Technology and Ford Racing, acknowledging the honor of being recognized by an organization that significantly impacts young people in the Portland area and nationwide. This award adds to Ford’s extensive collection of accolades, further solidifying its legacy in motorsports.
