In support of National Safety Month, DriveCam Inc., a Driver Risk Management (DRM) company, has released data highlighting the most dangerous driving behaviors that contribute to collisions. Their goal is to increase awareness and improve road safety for all.

National Safety Month, established in 1996 by the National Safety Council, addresses the alarming statistics surrounding motor vehicle crashes. Data from 2004 revealed 46,200 American fatalities and 2.4 million serious injuries due to vehicle collisions, with risky driving behaviors identified as a primary cause.

DriveCam Inc. analyzed data from commercial fleets using their products, compiling thousands of videos documenting unusual and risky driving. This analysis identified seven common risky driving activities that frequently lead to crashes:

1. Tailgating (Following Too Closely)
2. Poor Intersection Awareness
3. Distracted Driving
4. Inadequate Road Observation
5. Speeding and Driving Too Fast
6. Fatigue
7. Risky Lane Changes and Passing
