Chronic constipation, often stemming from a weakened colon, can be a persistent challenge. In many instances, the colon needs retraining to restore regular bowel movements. If you’re experiencing mild constipation, this morning smoothie can help activate your colon and provide essential nutrients to regenerate your body.
I’ve been preparing this smoothie for several years, making enough to enjoy immediately and storing the rest in a thermos for later. Feel free to adjust the recipe to your liking – I often add ingredients to the blender without strict measurements.
Ingredients:
* 1 peeled banana
* 4-5 strawberries (or other berries/fruits of your choice)
* 1 tablespoon of lecithin granules
* 1-2 teaspoons of flaxseed oil
* Half almond milk, half apple juice
Seed Blend (Grind Together):
* 1 teaspoon (or less) of each:
* Brown sesame seeds: Rich in lecithin, vitamins C and E, and calcium. Supports liver function and aids in relieving constipation.
* Sunflower seeds: High in protein, calcium, and iron. Provides comprehensive nourishment for the body.
* Flax seeds: Excellent source of fiber, adding bulk to stools.
* Almonds: Use 6-7 (or more). High in calcium, phosphorus, and B-vitamins. Consume in moderation due to calorie content.
Instructions:
1. Grind the seed blend in a coffee grinder.
2. Combine all ingredients, including the ground seeds, in a blender.
3. Blend for 3-4 minutes until smooth.
4. Add a small amount of honey for sweetness, if desired.
5. Optional: Add the powder from a few acidophilus capsules.
Alternatively, if you omit the almonds, you can add the tiny seeds directly to the blender without grinding, as the blender will break them down.
This smoothie provides a morning energy boost and effectively stimulates your colon for improved regularity.
