In late 2005, I realized the importance of blogging for online communication. I managed forums, websites, and wrote articles, but blogging allowed me to strengthen my niches: aviation and article writing. Launching two blogs was a great decision. I chose WordPress for its superior blogging community and the control it offers.

Unlike Blogger, WordPress provides complete site control. My web hosting company, Powweb, offers numerous software downloads, including WordPress. A friend’s recommendation solidified my decision.

WordPress was up and running within minutes of downloading. In under thirty minutes, I customized the layout, sticking with the traditional template initially to focus on content. I added “Blog” tabs to my related sites, announced the new blogs, and emailed my members list.

WordPress Version 2.0 was recently released. As a new blogger, I’m using version 1.5 to ensure stability. Not all plugins compatible with 1.5 are yet compatible with 2.0.

I appreciate the administrative dashboard for creating blogs. For my picture-heavy blog, Jet Movements, WordPress allows precise HTML alignment for images. The ability to schedule entries is a key advantage. I can write multiple entries and schedule them for future publication, adjusting the timing as needed.

WordPress adheres to modern web standards and offers a cleaner, more professional look than competitors. You can choose from WordPress templates or upload your own design.

WordPress can be self-hosted or hosted for free through WordPress.com.

As an open-source platform, WordPress has an active forum and helpful resources for building and maintaining your blog.

I am a satisfied WordPress user. You can be too, whether you self-host or host directly with WordPress.
