I’ve always been drawn to the vibrancy of colors and the dynamism of movement, finding them to be healing, relaxing, fulfilling, and challenging, much like dance. At its core, my art is about conveying a feeling and a message through the medium of paint. Each piece is an attempt to capture warmth, passion, joy, and bliss within a non-objective composition. I revel in experimenting with different media and diverse subjects.
While my subject matter shifts with my emotions and artistic intent, my unwavering love for color remains a constant. Despite the abstract nature of my work, viewers often perceive recognizable forms or figures within the expressions. The beauty of abstract art lies in this freedom of interpretation, allowing viewers to project their own understanding and imagination onto the canvas. My traditional art style, “Uli,” has significantly influenced my career, with its symbols and forms finding expression in my cubism, abstract images, abstract relief sculptures, seascapes, drawings, pastels, and watercolor paintings.
The individual depth of perception when viewing abstract art is rooted in one’s exposure to and understanding of art forms, colors, shapes, lines, and textures—the fundamental elements that constitute the artwork.
The interplay of dark hues, shapes, and forms can evoke a range of impressions, from mystical to peaceful. Uli organic forms and shapes hold symbolic meaning, enriching the artwork with layers of inherent significance. As an artist, I pour my spiritual consciousness into my work. My creative process is a form of meditation, where I, the canvas, and colors intertwine. It is during this intimate moment that a spiritual essence is transferred from the artist to the art, resulting in the emotional resonance that viewers experience, even in the absence of recognizable objects.
I find joy in the manipulation of space, both in its inclusion and deletion. The handling or illusion of space is a potent tool. The impression of depth, perspective, airiness, solidity, and texture are carefully orchestrated to achieve a specific artistic goal. The overall composition guides the viewer’s eye, fostering understanding and appreciation of the images.
Many of my figurative compositions celebrate womanhood. I take pride in being a part of it because women are the seats of wisdom and knowledge.
Energy, an elusive yet vital force, permeates all great art. While the life force behind each piece remains consistent, the specific energy and message vary. This unique energy allows the artwork to speak to the viewer, making it distinctly original and identifiable. It arises from experience, self-awareness, materials, and tools, yet the final product transcends these elements, much like a musical composition surpasses a mere collection of notes.
Welcome to my world of abstract and modern art. I invite you to relax and explore the diverse art forms and styles. Allow your heart and mind to respond to the colors, shapes, figures, and textures. Immerse yourself in the illusion of vibrant spaces, the movement of lines, and the blissful atmosphere. Come closer and examine the intricacies of brushstrokes, spatula strokes, paint thickness, textures, and compositional details. Delight in how the individual components harmoniously converge to form a cohesive whole.
Take your time. My artwork requires more than a fleeting glance. Allow it to evolve in your perception, becoming increasingly engaging and enjoyable as you live with it.
