Oasis Hong Kong Airlines garnered significant recognition at the 2007 World Low Cost Airline Awards in London, securing the coveted titles of “Best New Service” and “Best Business Class Carrier.” This achievement, realized less than a year after commencing operations in October 2006, underscores the airline’s innovative approach to long-haul, low-cost travel.
In the Best Business Class Carrier category, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines triumphed over competitors such as FlyZoom, MAXjet, and Silverjet. The “Best New Service” award saw them outshine Nok Air, Click Air, Go India, Sama Airlines, Silverjet, and Fly Zoom.
Oasis Hong Kong Airlines has operated a daily service between London Gatwick and Hong Kong since its inception and expanded its network with a Hong Kong to Vancouver route in June 2007. The airline’s business model uniquely combines affordable fares with comprehensive service, including complimentary hot meals and in-flight entertainment.
The airline’s “businessOasis” offering provides business and premium leisure travelers with access to business-class amenities on flights to Hong Kong for fares starting at just £470 plus tax (one way). This includes dedicated check-in, a choice of Asian or Western gourmet meals, 28 channels of video/audio entertainment, personal seat-back TVs, and electronic reclining sleeper seats featuring a generous 60-inch pitch – comparable to services provided by traditional business class airlines.
CEO Steve Miller commented, “We are extremely proud to be recognized for our achievements within our first 11 months of operation. The Best Business Class Carrier award is a great accolade as it shows businessOasis rivals the offer of specialist business class carriers.” He further added that over 153,000 passengers have flown with Oasis Hong Kong Airlines on 574 flights, experiencing the airline’s unique blend of low fares and full service, and that the airline remains committed to exceeding passenger expectations.
The World Low Cost Airline Awards are judged by a panel of esteemed experts in aviation, media, and marketing, including representatives from the European Low Fare Airline Association, JLS Consulting, IdeaWorks, and the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation.
