Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, a pioneering low-fare, long-haul carrier based in Hong Kong, marked its six-month anniversary with the launch of its highly anticipated Hong Kong to Vancouver service. The celebration, held at The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, highlighted the airline’s impressive achievements, including operating 315 flights, serving over 100,000 passengers, and expanding its fleet. Executives, including Chairman Raymond Lee, Executive Director Priscilla Lee, and CEO Stephen Miller, commemorated the occasion.

“We are excited to celebrate this milestone and remain committed to making long-haul travel accessible,” stated Mr. Lee. He also expressed gratitude to passengers for their support and pledged continued enhancements to service on routes to London, Vancouver, and future destinations.

The inaugural Hong Kong-Vancouver flight departed from Hong Kong International Airport on June 28, landing at Vancouver International Airport. The 12-hour non-stop flights operated six days a week.

Economy fares started at HK$3,980 round trip, while business class fares began at HK$18,000 round trip. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines guaranteed that 10% of economy class seats on every flight would be available at HK$1,990 one-way for the first year.

To celebrate the new route, Oasis offered a “buy one get one free” promotion on business class tickets purchased between April 25 and May 15, 2007, for travel before October 27, 2007.

Stephen Miller, CEO, emphasized Vancouver’s appeal as both a business and leisure destination for Hong Kong travelers, stating, “We are pleased to respond to consumer needs by offering this super value service.”

Bookings to Vancouver were initially available through select travel agents, with online and customer service hotline reservations becoming available in early May.

To support the Vancouver route, Oasis acquired three additional Boeing 747-400s from ANA (All Nippon Airways), bringing its fleet to five aircraft. The first new aircraft arrived on April 25, 2007. The airline also expanded its crew by hiring 200 additional cockpit and cabin crew members, bringing the total to over 400.

The Hong Kong to Vancouver service followed the successful launch of the Hong Kong to London route, which had carried over 100,000 passengers since its inauguration on October 26.

Mr. Miller noted the overwhelmingly positive customer response to the London flights, stating, “The people of Hong Kong have really embraced us.” He added that positive feedback, especially from business travelers, encouraged the airline to extend its superior product and service to the Vancouver route.

Oasis Hong Kong Airlines planned to expand its service to more leading aviation hubs in Europe and North America.
