Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, established in October 2006, revolutionized air travel by making long-distance flights accessible to everyone. The airline distinguished itself by offering competitive fares and customizable flight experiences in both business and economy classes. Initially launching daily direct flights between Hong Kong and London Gatwick, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines expanded its reach with a six-times-weekly direct service connecting Hong Kong and Vancouver, Canada.
Vancouver, a major Canadian city with a significant Chinese population, presented an opportunity to reunite families separated by distance. High international airfare costs had previously limited travel for many. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines aimed to alleviate this financial burden, facilitating more frequent family visits.
Online bookings offered significantly lower economy ticket prices compared to competitors’ multi-stop services. Business class tickets were priced comparably to other airlines’ economy fares. This pricing strategy benefited families and the Chinese business community in Vancouver with strong ties to Hong Kong and Asia.
Raymond Lee, CEO of Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, emphasizing its role in enabling more frequent family reunions. Special fares were introduced for passengers over 55 to further reduce travel expenses, encouraging more frequent trips. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines also extended discounted rates to pastors and students.
Within its first year, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines significantly impacted the international travel market. The Hong Kong to London route witnessed a 28% market expansion. Future collaborations with short-haul airlines were planned to establish flight packages from Hong Kong to various Asian destinations.
Having transported over 500,000 passengers since its inception, the Hong Kong to London route operated at over 90% capacity. Plans for the future included increased flight frequencies to Vancouver and potential routes to Toronto, Europe, and North America, furthering the airline’s mission to make long-haul travel affordable for all.
