The bond between a person and their vehicle can be a unique one. I love my truck, despite its quirks. It’s been with me for years, a reliable companion through thick and thin, a vehicle of both my literal and figurative journey. I had the chance to drive any vehicle in the world, and I chose to keep my truck. It’s old, attracts trouble – break-ins, scratches, even an umbrella assault by my nephew – lacks a stereo, and possesses a certain… aroma. Yet, its imperfections are part of its charm. The thought of commercializing it with truck side advertising, however, feels like a step too far. Even with the potential financial benefit, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. My truck is an individual, it brings me joy, and covering it with ads would somehow diminish that special connection. It would tarnish one of the few things that hasn’t been affected by my own personal baggage. It’s like seeing a friend wearing a sandwich board – it just feels wrong.
