Even with the utmost care, car dents can happen. Small dents, like those from bumping into a garage wall, are often easily repaired at home. With the right tools and knowledge, you can restore your car’s appearance.
First, carefully drill a small hole in the center of the dent. This provides access to the dent’s core. Insert a dent pulling tool, available at auto parts stores, into the hole.
Gently pull the tool until the dent pops out or becomes significantly flattened. Once this is achieved, remove the dent pulling tool.
On the reverse side of the dented metal, carefully hammer out the remaining imperfection. Use a metalworking hammer and dolly to smooth the area. Stop when the surface is flush with the surrounding metal.
Finally, fill the drilled hole with body filler, sand it smooth, and apply touch-up paint. This will conceal the repair and restore your car’s original finish.
