Traveling with children often means snacks and drinks in the car, which can unfortunately lead to spills. Milk, in particular, can create a persistent and unpleasant odor if spilled and left to spoil in your car’s interior. The heat from the sun and road can quickly turn spilled milk into a smelly problem. Removing this odor can be challenging, but with the right approach, you can restore your car’s fresh scent.

Begin by immediately blotting up any remaining liquid milk from the carpet or seats using a clean towel or absorbent cloth. Once you’ve absorbed as much liquid as possible, generously sprinkle baking soda over the affected area. Baking soda is known for its excellent odor-absorbing properties. Lightly sprinkle cold water over the baking soda and allow it to sit overnight. In the morning, thoroughly vacuum the area to remove the baking soda.

If the baking soda treatment isn’t entirely effective, white vinegar can be used. Apply white vinegar to the affected area, let it sit for 10-20 minutes, and then absorb the vinegar with paper towels or a clean cloth.
