J.P. Ransom, author of several short stories and two books, is currently immersed in writing the ‘Colla’d Greens’ series, with a sequel to ‘Born Evil’ also in development.
‘Born Evil’ is a concise, 150-page horror novel printed on acid-free paper. The story revolves around Jonathan, an infant born with a malevolent nature. His inherent cruelty is amplified by traumatic early experiences. His adoptive parents, Rick and Trish, struggle to cope with their disturbed child. Rick suspects the dark truth about Jonathan, while Trish grapples with disbelief, unable to accept that her young son is capable of such heinous acts.
The novel raises the provocative question of whether some individuals are simply born with an innate inclination towards evil, independent of environmental factors or abuse. It also explores how exposure to violence, even through socially acceptable entertainment, can exacerbate these tendencies.
‘Born Evil’ evokes a powerful emotional response, from anger and sorrow to profound shock. The ending is exceptionally well-crafted, leaving the reader eager for the sequel.
